While many WHS students were walking the parade route Thursday evening, the cross country athletes were at the Chaparral Invitational running their new course at Chaparral High School, and they sure have something to show for it! The boys varsity team placed first among a field of six and a plethora of those members and JV runners earned individual medals!! Below are the full results and link to some meet photos courtesy of WHS Cross Country athletes Cabel Bogguss and Conner Walker--they took some great ones!!
The Varsity Tennis girls trekked to Pratt on Saturday for the Pratt High School Varsity Invitational where they finished 3rd as a team, and as Coach Aufdengarten explains, "would have finished 1st or 2nd, but they asked us to move our #2 singles to #1 singles to balance out the pools, so we did not get points in that spot."
Cross Country hosted a middle school and high school meet at the Hargis Creek Watershed this weekend with ideal weather and over 400 runners across all events. The high school races kicked off at 9:30 after the middle school portion of the meet was complete, and our WHS athletes had some standout results! Coaches Showman, Young, and Wallace can be proud!!

The Freshman/Sophomore Volleyball team hosted a quad yesterday with Circle, McPherson, and Andale. Jenna Rausch (WHS '18) has joined the volleyball staff and coached this squad in their first home action of the season. The girls had a nail-biter of a first match against Circle. Wellington lost the first set, but rallied and won the second 28-26, and their momentum carried them to a win 15-12 in the third set. The rest of the night went a little rougher, with losses to McPherson and Andale. This is a spirited group of athletes with a lot of potential, though!
