Lady Crusaders FIGHT for win over Buhler at home triangular

Wellington hosted Buhler and Andale for a volleyball triangular Thursday night, and the Varsity and JV outcomes pretty much mirrored each other.  Wellington was able to overcome the Buhler teams (Varsity in three sets, JV in two), then Andale dominated the courts for the rest of the night.  However, to simply report the scores would be to scratch the surface.  This is a very young volleyball squad, and they are a very fun group to watch, from the players resting up on the bench to the coaches and to those standing on the court.  The coaching staff have built a tight-knit community in this t

Tennis takes 3rd among stiff competition at League

Wellington Tennis competed at League held in El Dorado yesterday, October 3, and Coach Aufty reports that the team "had an outstanding day"!  Their goal was to finish in the Top 5 as a team, as "we are in the toughest 4A league in the state with Division III and IV combined."  The team exceeded their goal.  Aufdengarten reports, " We finished 3rd as a team right behind McPherson.  Wichita Collegiate won their 12th team title out of 13 years in the league."

Girls Golf goes against large schools at Hutch

On Friday, September 30, Girls Golf participated in the Hutchinson Invitational at Carey Park with a LOT of competition.  The team placed 4th in a large field, and bested the rest of the 4A competition present.  Well done against some bigger schools, girls!

Varsity Tennis sweeps Kingman meet

On September 27, the Varsity Tennis squad competed in the Kingman meet with Nickerson, Buhler, Haven, Kingman, and Valley Center, and the group won in every position and placed 1st as a team!

Wall of Recognition inductee, Jayhawks legend Jerry Waugh dies at 95

Jerry Waugh, a Crusader Wall of Recognition inductee and 1945 graduate of Wellington High School, has died on September 17 at the age of 95.  Waugh was inducted to the Wall of Recognition at Wellington High School in 2013, during which he was recognized for his many athletic, academic, and professional accomplishments during his lifetime, including playing basketball for the Kansas Jayhawks under Coach Phog Allen, becoming an assistant basketball coach at KU during the Wilt Chamberlain years, and forming the Kansas Golf Association and becoming head coach of KU Girls Golf among many other n
