Crusaders Battle Hard - Rockets Advance
The #3 seeded WHS Varsity Boys road tripped to #2 seeded Rose Hill HS on Tuesday, for a post-season showdown with the Rockets and an opportunity to move on in Sub-State action. The Crusaders came to play. One of the best games I've seen the Crusaders put on the court this season.
Playing on the Rockets home floor, the Crusaders battled hard and minus a lack of forward steam in the 3rd, we'd be talking about their role in the upcoming Sub-State championship on Friday vs #4 seeded Clearwater, who surprised the #1 seeded Mulvane Wildcats with a 54-45 victory @ Mulvane, to advance and set the stage for Friday's action. WHS would come up short in the end, final score RHHS 70 WHS 64.
The Crusaders were down just 1 at half, every attempt by the Rockets to pull away, thwarted. The 21 to 11 advantage in the 3rd would end up being the difference. Down the 4th qtr stretch, the Crusaders outscored the home team 22-17. The intensity was high and the Crusaders never said never. Tanner Meyer lead the Crusaders with 23 points, as he has done on a plethora of occasions during his Crusader career, followed by RJ Clift with 14 and Jack Wright with 12. Here's the individual scoring for the Crusader's final contest of the 2020-2021 season.
Tanner Meyer 23
RJ Clift 14
Jack Wright 12
Montel Tate 4
Banks Hinshaw 4
Berkeley Wright 4
Trenton Bannister 3
The Crusader season would end at 6-13, the Wellington team on the court Tuesday looked much more like a 13-6 team. They played their hearts out. Proud to be a Crusader.
