Over the weekend, the Crusader Baseball Team hosted a group of WHS baseball alums Saturday afternoon. We are sharing pics with you now as I speak. It was a beautiful day at Hibbs-Hooten field and it was fantastic to see the Crusaders out on the field, the first time in almost 2 years because of COVID.

The ALUMS proved to be a bit formidable, and jumped out early on the younger boys and kept it rolling for 9 ½ innings of play. After 1 inning, the alums were on top 3-1 and never looked back. Final score was 21-7 but a lot of comradery and fun throughout which is the main goal for the event. It also gives head coach Jenkins a preview of the squad in action against another team before regular season gets underway this Thursday at Goddard HS.

During the game, the Crusaders put “9” different players on the pitching mound, none for more than an inning. Together, they allowed 13 hits and 21 runs (10 of which were Earned Runs). They struck out 7 and walked 12. No HR’s for the older gents. Crusaders Kannon Klein and RJ Clift gave up zero hits and zero runs during their mound activity.

Seven Crusaders were able to get a HIT, those were RJ Clift, who had a double, Also, chalking up hits were Berkeley Wright, Korbin Jones, Jakob Lira, Kaiden Hernandez, Brayden Macias and Kannon Klein.

Scoring runs for the Crusaders were Berkeley Wright, Cope Henry, Macias, Logan Swingle (2), and Klein.

Rylan Biles, Berkeley Wright, Greg Holcomb, Keaton Hartman, Kannon Klein and Hagen Wright, each had an RBI.
The squad committed a lot of errors (10), I’m sure that is something Coach Jenkins will be focusing on as the season gets underway.

The weather was perfect - sunshine, light winds, and lots of smiles.
