GAME 1  (WHS 0 GHS 10)

Tough start for the Crusaders who move to 0-2
on the young season, falling to Goddard @ Goddard, 0-10 and 4-12 Thursday evening.
In the opener, Wellington fell behind early and couldn't mount a comeback through 6 innings of play. A single by Senior Greg Holcomb in the second inning failed to ignite the boys in red. Goddard's Shope would take the win, pitching 5 innings, allowing 2 hits and 0 runs while striking out 7 and walking 4. Hamilton threw 1 inning in relief. 
Rylan Biles took the loss for the Crusaders. Holcomb went 2 for 2 at the plate to lead in hits. Wellington finished with 3 errors. In addition to Holcomb's 2 hits, Rylan Biles walked 3 times, with 2 stolen bases.
Biles, Keaton Hartman, and Cope Henry were on the mound for Wellington, pitching 3.1, 0.2, and 1.2 innings respectively. Biles gave up 6 hits, 5 runs, striking out 2 and walked 1. Hartman gave up 1 hit, 2 runs, striking out 1 and walked 2. Henry gave up 3 hits, 3 runs, and walked 1.


GAME 2  (WHS 4 GHS 12)

In the nightcap, errors hurt the Crusaders again, coming up short 4-12 with 5 hits and 3 errors. Goddard scored 12 on 10 hits and 0 errors.Wellington's Berkeley Wright, Mekhi Haskins-Ybarra had hits, Haskins with a double, also with hits, Trace Witham and Banks Hinshaw  - Hinshaw with 2. Witham and Wright both had 2 stolen bases.
5 Crusaders saw some mound action in the Game 2, Wright, Logan Swingle, Kannon Klein, Carson Nugen, and Brayden Macias. Together, they struck out 2, giving up 10 hits and 12 runs and walking 3.

Up next for the Varsity Crusaders, their first homestand for the season, on Thursday, April 1st vs Andale. Games get underway at 4PM, at Hibbs-Hooten Field and 9th Street Diamond.The JV Boys' games were postponed (due to Covid-related circumstances) and will now be played @ Goddard on Monday, March 29th beginning @ 4PM. If you purchased your digital tickets for the JV games prior to postponement, those tickets will be honored at Monday's make-up action.
