More smiles than frowns Friday on the Babe Ruth and Cal Ripken Tournament Trails. "3" of "4" Wellington baseball teams in State Tournament action at "3" different locales came away with VICTORIES and remain in the hunt for State Titles and more! Here's what went down:

SENIOR BABE RUTH UPDATE - congrats to the Wellington Host Team who bounced back from Thursday's first round loss, defeating Independence Friday 7-3! DeAndre Washington went the distance on the mound - Coach Jeff Frazee indicated DeAndre pitched one heckuva game! DeAndre was named MVP and the WOW Award went to Caleb Reichenberger. Congrats to them! A win today in their 3rd pool play game for Wellington Host Team vs Cottonwood Valley (@ 5:30) will place our local boys (Host Team) in bracket play on Sunday for the State Championship Coach Frazee indicated after Friday's victory! Awesome - GO RED!!

Unfortunately, in an earlier game on Friday between Walnut Ark Valley (mostly Wellington boys) and Parsons, WAV came up short 2-9 and fall to 0-2 in pool play with their last pool play game today at 3:00 vs Liberal. MVP honors went to Brayden Higginbotham and WOW Award to Derek Driskell. Congrats to both of them! It will be difficult to advance to bracket play on Sunday now. Let's get that win today anyways and go out with a smile!! Keep up the hustle and grab a "W" away from Liberal!
