The Duchess Pep Assembly at WHS Friday afternoon - probably the MOST EPIC I've seen. Very well done, well planned. CREATIVE! Awesome job by all involved including the A1 Master of Ceremonies - Mr. Luke Smith A.D.!!

A tradition that goes way back, continued on Thursday evening in downtown Wellington with the annual DUCHESS HOMECOMING PARADE & PEP RALLY. The Cheerleaders, the Dancers, the Football Team, the Candidates and their escorts, the Band, the Fans, the Floats, and more...all on hand, enjoying their surroundings, enjoying the energy of youth, enjoying Wellington.

Sunday was FORMAL PICS day at WELLINGTON.CC - it was a little wet and a little misty, but we managed to get some photoshoot time in, nonetheless! A great group of young ladies - very impressive, across the board! 

Principal Zack Hood at Wellington High School announced this school year's DUCHESS CANDIDATES Friday afternoon at WHS.

Spirit Week with daily themes will commence on Monday, Sep. 28th. Coronation is slated for Friday, Oct. 2nd. More details soon!!

Following the DUKE CORONATION @ halftime of the Boy's Varsity basketball game vs Rose Hill (which we won 60-57!) on Friday, Valentine's Day 2020 - and after the game, the action shifted to the Commons area for the annual & traditional DUKE DANCE until 11PM. WHS Yearbook was there with "3" cameras - recording the event. Congratulations again to the new DUKE, Quinn McCue. Looks like Quinn and everyone else had a good time!

SPIRIT WEEK commences, next Monday (FEB. 10th)!!

Following the game at Sellers Friday evening, numerous students made their way back over the high school to take part in the HOMECOMING DANCE being held in the Commons area.

With rain threatening the parade and rally all day long, a decision was made mid-afternoon to GO FOR IT and that's what everyone did and it worked out great! It was raining lightly, leading up to the start of the event, but Mother Nature let up and the precip stopped soon thereafter - a nice crowd enjoyed all that was paradely offered.

The names of the 2019 Duchess Candidates were released on Friday.

Congratulations to Emberly Gonzalez, Jennifer Jensen, Elise LeGrand, Jordyn Young, and Kylie Aufdengarten!

The Crusader Basketball programs hosted their counterparts from Augusta Friday evening and what a busy evening it was! In addition to "5" basketball games, DeAndre Washington was honored during the Varsity Girls halftime for his invitation to this year's SHRINE BOWL.A new DUKE was crowned as well, during the Varsity Boys halftime. Congrats again to Dakota Lynnes - check other stories here on wellington.cc about the  coronation and other Spirit Week activities, it's been a fun week.

Homecoming Week (i.e. SPIRIT WEEK) usually culminates with the traditional HOMECOMING DANCE - this year, no exception! Dozens of Crusaders on hand after the football game to celebrate and pay honor to our new reigning Duchess Juliette Hyer!

Juliette Hyer was crowned the 2018 WHS Duchess Friday evening during halftime of the Augusta vs Wellington game. That game ended in victory for Wellington, downing Augusta 35-14.

This Fall's Duchess Candidates in addition to Hyer, were Jacelyn Buck, Taylor Meyer, Arielle Pottier, and Skylar Troutman.

The annual WHS DUCHESS PEP ASSEMBLY took place Friday afternoon at WHS, just a few hours before tip off at the home Augusta vs Wellington football game and the coronation of the new duchess herself. The band, the cheerleaders, the crimson dancers all performed. The Duchess Candidates and their escorts made their "unique" entrances. A tug of war between the students and some coaches/teachers ended in shame for the latter. But, the fact they were outnumbered a bit, should soften that blow a little. :)

The annual HOMECOMING PARADE and downtown PEP RALLY at Heritage Park, took place Thursday evening. Threats of rain for Thursday, earlier in the week, were moved back to Friday and the parade and rally was warm  and windy but it stayed dry. Following the downtown activities, much of the crowd headed to Sellers for Powder Puff Football.

The first PEP RALLY of the school year was held today at WHS! The Cheerleaders, the Band, and the new Crimson Dancers performed for the raucous crowd! All of the Fall Coaches introduced their teams to the student body and public guests. And then, in climactic suspense, the 2018-2019 DUCHESS CANDIDATES were announced!
