(2-6) Crusaders Head North to (6-2) Buhler Week #9

The CRUSADERS ended regular season play in the 4A WEST DIV Friday evening, falling to the Mulvane Wildcats, 7-23. The boys in red started out strong but the Wildcats gained control of the action before halftime and won their 4th game of the year after starting out 0-4. Wellington will travel to (6-2) Buhler Week #9, Mulvane will host Independence who fell to Rose Hill 0-45.Those "2" winners will square off in Regional 4A action on Nov.

Ginter Brings Home Hardware From State 4A Girls Golf!

Under less than favorable weather conditions, especially Round 1 on Monday, the State 4A Girls Golf Tournament is "in the can" so to speak. Wellington's Payton Ginter shined for the third consecutive year in a row at this highest level! Ginter battled hard both days, finishing in 5th (86) after Round 1 behind Brasser (80) of Andale, Donovan (82) of Concordia, Miller (85) of Buhler, and Madison (85) of Ft. Scott. On Tuesday, Payton improved her position, finishing 3rd (85), behind Brasser (78) and Miller (83).

Aufdengarten & Rusk Advance To Semi's @ State 4A Tennis!

WHS Sr. Kylie Aufdengarten and Jr. Rylee Rusk went 2-0 Friday at the State 4A Girls Tennis tournament in Winfield. They are assured of a TOP 4 finish will play in semifinal action Saturday morning. The pair had a bye in the first round, defeated Yutzy and Birney of Buhler 6-1, 6-3 then Martin & Unruh of Hesston 6-1, 6-0. They will go up against Gentile & Yoakum of Collegiate in semifinal action Saturday! GO KYLIE GO RYLEE

WHS & WMS FFA Students Judge Horses @ Kingman

On October 16 The Wellington FFA Chapter went to Kingman, Kansas to compete in the South Central District Horse Judging Career Development Event.  The students learned about how to judge horses based on their confirmation, and also based on how they perform being ridden in various performance events in Agriculture Education classes.  They took the skills they learned and applied them in a real world setting by judging six classes of horses and giving oral reasons. (Oral reasons are a short explanation of why they placed the horses the way they did).

Tennis & Golf SENDOFF @ WHS Thursday!

Members of the Varsity Girls Golf and Girls Tennis Teams were given an official sendoff at WHS on Thursday during lunch. Kylie Aufdengarten, Rylee Rusk, Calli Hatfield and Jensen Lynnes are heading to Winfield on Friday and Saturday for State 4A action - that will get underway at 10:30AM at the T.H. Vaughn Tennis Center. Good Luck Ladies & Coaches! Aufdengarten and Rusk were State 4A Runners-Up last season - it's going to be exciting!

WHS "C" Football Team Wins Over Labette County Monday

Congratulations to the WHS "C" Football Team - at Sellers on Monday evening, the younger IRONDUKES took care of business, downing their counterparts from Labette County 22-0! Some good defensive stops and good yard-gainers by the Crusaders. Cope Henry, RJ Clift, Mekhi Haskin-Ybarra, Caiden Hamilton, and Trey Greenlee all ran the ball well - a fun game.
