Golfers take 4th at State

WHS Girls Golf made their first team visit in program history to the 4A State Tournament on October 17-18.  After dominating many of the regular season tournaments and taking 1st at League and Regionals for a total of 7 tournament wins on the season, the team traveled to Emporia for the final show.  Coach Ginter reports:

Our ladies were very excited and nervous about state as it was the first time in our program's history that we had qualified as a team.

More GREAT NEWS for Crusader Country!

Cross Country returned from the AVCTL Division III/IV League Meet on Thursday last week with several individual medals, league honors, and the Division IV LEAGUE TITLE for the Boys Varsity Team!!!!! Collegiate was the team to beat in this division, and Boys Varsity scored 12 points better than the Spartans. Boys JV also took 1st over the only other school whose roster was big enough to make up a team in that event, Clearwater.

The Lady Crusaders Golf Team continue to add hardware to their collection this season: they are REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!!!!! The team took first at the regional tournament held last week at Turkey Creek Golf Course in McPherson.  Additionally, freshman Claire Ginter led the field with a new PR (76) to become INDIVIDUAL REGIONAL CHAMPION!!! Wow!!

Wellington Tennis is REGIONAL RUNNER-UP, advances five to State

Wellington Tennis is REGIONAL RUNNER-UP (second to Wichita Trinity) and advancing FIVE players to State: Jensen Lynnes, Lyric Cornejo, Ashlyn Gerten, Kadynce Aufdengarten, and Kami Reichenberger!

On Saturday, October 8, Wellington hosted Regionals at Winfield's T.H. Vaughan Tennis Complex and the team performed very well in what Coach Aufdengarten describes as "one of the toughest regionals in 4A this year."  As a team, Wellington was REGIONAL RUNNER-UP, which marks the second straight year that the team has brought home a regional trophy (last year's team took 1st ).

XC Crusaders find success at Cheney Invitational

The Wellington High School Cross Country team continues to make good strides and remain competitive in meets.  The latest results are from the Cheney Invitational held at Cheney State Park last Thursday, October 6.  Boys Varsity placed solidly as Runner-Up as a team, finishing 13 points ahead of the third place Andale team.  Below are the results from all the high school races and photos by Cross Country athletes Conner Walker and Ava Furman.  Thanks Conner and Ava!  And Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Team!
 

Girls Golf to add LEAGUE CHAMPS banner to records in WHS gym
