Varsity Tennis takes 1st at 5-team home meet

VARSITY TENNIS RESULTS

Wellington hosted a five-team Round Robin meet yesterday afternoon and took FIRST OVERALL!

 

Freshman Logan Robinson played in the #1 Singles slot for this meet, and ended up in a 3-way tie going 2-2 on the day, but finished 2nd overall after tiebreaker criteria was considered.  Head Coach Brian Aufdengarten said, "Logan never gave up and fought hard, she will get better each day.  Our matches are longer than middle school and she will adjust, she has some solid strokes and will be fun to watch."  

Volleyball splits in Collegiate triangular

Varsity Volleyball was at Wichita Collegiate tonight for a triangular with Rose HIll and Collegiate. Coach Hopper reports it was a little bit of a rough start coming off of the four-day weekend with a loss to Collegiate in two sets (17-25 and 11-25), but the team rallied and beat Rose Hill in three sets (25-23, 21-25, 25-22)! Hopper says, "We improved with each set and we look forward to carrying the momentum into next Tuesday!"

Lady Crusader golf team takes 1st again!

The Girls Golf Team is on a roll! The Lady Crusaders attended the Andover Central Invitational today at Sierra Hills in Wichita and took FIRST PLACE at their second tournament IN A ROW! Three of the girls placed in the Top 10: Kasiah Richmond (Sr), Taryn Viramontes (Fr), and Aubrey Hunt (Jr).

Crusader Football v. Andale

Wellington hosted Andale for season-opening varsity football action at Sellers Park on Friday night.  The Crusaders are rocking a new look for their helmets and are led by new head coach Jeremiah Meeks.  The Indians outscored Wellington 63-14, but huge gains were made over last year's outcome against Andale, statistically speaking.  In addition to a new coach, new AD Elly Johnson, new principals John Nance and Audrey Gill on the sidelines, there was also a new announcer--Rick Roitman--in the press box.  Halftime included a routine by the Crimson Dancers and a James Bond medley performed by

Cross Country season begins in Clearwater

Cross Country traveled to their season-opening Clearwater Invitational yesterday.  The athletes reported that there were quite a few more teams there than last year, making for a bigger and more competitive meet.  Wellington went home with a handful of individual medals and TONS of pics!  Thanks to Cross Country athletes Lex Goff and Conner Walker who took a yearbook camera to the meet and provided us with over 400 great photos!  Results and photos below:

FIRST for Lady Crusaders Golf

For the FIRST TIME in Lady Crusaders Golf history, the team took FIRST PLACE in a tournament!! The girls attended the Augusta Invitational today and placed 1st as a team with a score of 191 and also had three individual medalists!  Freshmen Taryn Viramontes and Claire Ginter placed 3rd and 5th, respectively, and senior Kasiah Richmond placed 7th!
