New WHS Band Uniforms Make Their Debut!
The WMS and WHS Concert Bands, under the direction of Mr. Allen Hisken and guest direction with Mr. Ken Miller and Mr. David Brody, performed Thursday evening at WHS. Excellent performances by all and the NEW LOOK - awesome!
Two separate concerts Thursday at WHS, with one goal in mind. Show the parents and friends of our Knight and Crusader Musicians how much we appreciate their talents and abilities.
The evening was divided in to "2" concerts, allowing the WMS crowd to clear the auditorium before the WHS Crowd entered. (Maintaining capacity restrictions) Both bands performed well, awards were distributed and 7 seniors were bid farewell as part of the ceremony, too. A sunflower was given to each senior by their band director, Allen Hisken. Several "soloist" numbers were performed. WMS soloists included Jessica Kenemore (Trombone), Sidney Levine (Flute), and Scotlyn Ewing (Piano).
In the nightcap concert with the Crusaders, Senior Morgan Bacon performed exquisitely on the Clarinet, accompanied by Kim Talbert on the piano. Guest conductors Ken Miller and David Brody, brought the Crusaders down the stretch. Conductor Hisken honored his Seniors near the end as the underclassmen performed the WHS Alma Mater. They would finish the evening with "THE VOYAGE" by George Sweet and a voyage the Band's 7 seniors and many other seniors across the continent will begin soon. We will miss Amber Cubbage-Williams, Julia Starnes, Morgan Bacon, Nathan Bristow, Katy Kenemore, Aidan Young, and Katy Kreifels. Best wishes for fulfilling lives ahead!
The Crusader Band's "NEW" band uniforms made their debut, much to the delight of the members and their guests. We are trending towards normal and it feels good.
Both concerts were taped by Sumner Communications Studio 55 and will broadcast in their entirety early next week on SUTV CABLE CH 55.
