Senior Hunter Worley represented Wellington as the sole Crusader this year to advance to 4A State on May 10-11.  After a 3rd place finish at Regionals where his younger teammates Maverick Peterson, John Summers, Brodee Lough, Trevan Hernandez, and Solomon Ledesma ended their seasons, Hunter advanced to the Topeka-hosted state tournament as the #7 with a first round bye.  He put away Luca Marrello of Bishop Miege 6-1, 6-1 in his first matchup but fell to Davian Spies of Buhler who would go on to take the title for the second time in his high school career (State Singles Champion 2022, 2024).  On the consolation side of the bracket, Worley defeated Scott Community High School senior Houston Frank 8-4, and then played a nail-biter of a match to eliminate Frank's teammate Avry Noll 9-7 in a comeback win after trailing 2-5 early in the match.  For the 5th place medal, Hunter rematched with Marrello of Miege and won 8-2.

Hunter ends his Crusader Tennis career as the third most-winningest player with 87 career victories, behind 2005 grad Drew Spencer's 89 and 2012 grad Evan Keller's 104 wins.  He also joins Brock Edwards (Class of 2017) as the only WHS boys tennis players to qualify for state all four seasons.  Worley has just recently committed to playing college tennis at Seward County Community College.
