Wellington's 9 yo Cal Ripken All-Stars have a big trip ahead of them this week! After emerging as the runner-up here @ Worden a couple weeks ago in the 9U District Tournament, the Wellington boys secured a spot at the State Cal Ripken 9U Tournament in Garden City this coming weekend and will represent District 1. District 3 (the district Wellington is actually in) will be represented by the District 3 Tournament Champion Winfield. 

Wellington's coaches are Josh Beck and Justin Elmore - the player roster includes Luke Wylie, Fisher Elder, Reid Walker, Connor Nugen, Trenton Elmore, Milo Elder, Maverick Peterson, Emerson Brownlee, Ross Beck, Cole Jesseph, Prestin Devine, Christian Santiago and Dane Tornaden.

Thursday will be a travel day for the State Tournament bound boys, game action will commence on Friday in Garden City and run through Sunday. On Friday, Wellington will go up against Council Grove at 1:30PM and then (Host) Garden City @ 8:00PM. On Saturday it will be Wellington vs Winfield at 2:00PM , a team that Wellington struggled with in the District Tournament but sometimes that can be a good thing and Wellington vs Pittsburg at 6:00PM. It's always fun to surprise other teams at State Tournaments so stay tuned!! The top 4 finishers from Friday and Saturday's action will then play in a single elimination championship bracket on Sunday, July 23rd commencing at 11:00AM, the Championship game is slated for 4:00PM Sunday.

If anyone is wondering, Google Maps indicates Garden City is 230 miles one way - about a 4 hr. drive - probably less than 4 hrs. for most folks I would imagine. ;)
