Hey SOPHS! "Reality U" Is Inbound!
UPDATE: As of 012918, enough in donations have been received to have the event - volunteers still needed though - read below!
Wellington High School will be providing the sophomore class an opportunity to be involved with a program called "Reality U".
Reality U is a one-day financial literacy event – for students in high school and middle school – designed to help students understand some of the “realities” involved in preparing for an employable future and adulthood. The goal is to learn about the correlation between fiscal well being, academic achievement, and financial literacy, all the while enabling students to understand some of the real life examples in preparing for future employment.
At Reality U, students are provided an adult scenario complete with marital status, number of children, occupation, and net monthly income. Students visit a variety of booths to “purchase” housing, transportation, communication services, child care, food, utilities, insurance, etc.
To accomplish this, there are two things we need community support for:
*Secure an additional $650 in donations to pay the balance owed for this presentation.
*Volunteers from industry to help man booths for the simulation; minimum of 2 volunteers per booth.
Booths include:
Housing
Utilities
Communications
Car Insurance
Supermarket
Shopping Center
Transportation
Medical Center
Childcare
Entertainment
Shopping Center

Donations can be made out to "WHS - Reality U" in care of Rane Case. If you can volunteer, just email Mrs. Case at rcase@usd353.com with the booth you would like to man.
The event will take place at WHS on April 4 (9:30 a.m. - noon). Mrs. Case would appreciate an RSVP for volunteers by February 2.
Thank you!
