Powder Puff Seniors / 2-0 & Braggin' Rights!
Gridiron action in May? Yep - it was Powder Puff Football time at Sellers Saturday night, with 2 games going at once.
In opening action, on the north half of the field, the Seniors squared off against the Freshmen and on the south half, the Juniors took on the Sophomores. After 40 minutes of "running clock" play, the Seniors defeated the Freshmen 38-26, the Juniors edged out the Sophomores 17-12.
In the nightcaps, on the north end, the Seniors claimed the crown, with an easier win over the earlier victorious Juniors, that score Seniors 32 Juniors 12. The Freshmen, came from behind in the last seconds of play and downed the Sophomores 26-25 to take 3rd.
It was a nice evening for football, in this case, flag football. All 4 games were "very" competitive, the girls were playing to WIN! Fun stuff, even overheard 1 of the senior boy refs afterwards comment, "I didn't realize refereeing was so difficult, they expect you to see every little thing!". (Real world learning) :)
There were some great passes and equally great receptions (check out the pics below - several sequential photos of several awesome receptions). Also some great running.
And the field itself, looks fantastic. When you are standing on it, it actually looks like turf, so green, so thick, so football.
Congratulations to the SENIORS (pictured above) and to all the participants. GO BIG RED!
