Varsity basketball triumphs over Cheney

The Crusader basketball teams hosted tournament-host Cheney on Monday, December 5, for night one of the Cardinal Classic early season tournament.  The Lady Crusaders kicked off the evening of varsity play with a convincing 50-38 win over the #6-ranked Cheney Girls Basketball Team.  The WHS boys team would have their work cut out for them if last year's outcome was any indication: this time last year, Cheney beat the Crusaders 30-76.  This game, though, the Crusaders kept pace and only trailed by 5 points going into the 4th quarter.  In the final seconds Cheney tied the game, but their hopes

Girls team wins Caney Valley tourney; boys boast individual placers

The wrestling teams spent Friday and Saturday at the Caney Valley tournament last weekend.  Results and some great courtesy photos from Friday below(the camera battery died before they could get pics from Saturday)!

Wellington swimmers compete at Maize Invitational

The Winfield Boys Swim Team competed last Saturday at the Maize Invitational. As a team, they placed 7th of 10 teams with 204 points, just behind Wichita Northwest at 209 and Maize South with 214 points. Andover High School blew away the rest of the competition with 369 points to take 1st with Andover Central trailing behind them with 298 points for 2nd.

Wellington Crusader swimmers Rome and Ralphie contributed a combined 17 points to the Vikings’ team total. Here’s how the boys did in their individual events:
