A large number of WHS student-athletes up and at it, early this Tuesday morning, on and around the track behind WMS. Summer PSQ carries on and will be outside all this week. Here are a few pics from there.
What a beautiful morning for CONDITIONING! High School student-athletes are back at it, after a nearly 3 month hiatus due to COVID-19. The group eased back into it today at the HS Track, maintaining social distance the best they could. Each participants' TEMPERATURE was taken as they arrived at the Track, including my own! I was allowed to stay and glad! It is great to see these young men and women, out early on a Monday morning, and many were sportin' smiles! I think a vast majority were glad to see each other as well. WELCOME BACK CRUSADERS!
The WHS Football Seniors had a huge feast Thursday evening, at the home of Zach Barker, former Crusader football standout, and compliments of their coaches. The team has been in training since early June and High Intensity Training will kick in on Monday and run through Aug. 8th. (Boot Camp)
This Senior group is tight-knit and have been a solid group for a long time. They are excited and pumped about the upcoming season - heck, so am I!
Student-athletes at WHS have been training all summer through PSQ, through camps, through special training - all to be as physically and mentally prepared as possible when Fall Sports Practices (Football, Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Cross Country, Girls Golf) begin. These pics were taken during HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING one morning last week, the training had moved inside for the day due to wet conditions outside...they train hard and they have fun.
Head WHS Girls Basketball Coach Eric Adams and his coaching staff's summer girls basketball camps culminate this week, with the K-2 and 3-5th grade camps ending on Thursday. A lot of girls of all ages play the game of basketball here in Wellington! Great stuff!
"Coach Pitch" League got underway Tuesday evening at Worden Park, for both boys and girls. (We'll have pics of the girls later this week!) "Coach Pitch" League is for younger children, 6-8 and introduces them to the game - Coaches are actively involved with the team members in all aspects of the game, from dugout protocol to what's going on field-wise. I like it because EVERYONE has fun! Lots of smiles and lots of great young athletes beginning their treks upward and onward!
The 2017 Crusader Football Camp got underway on Monday, under partly cloudy skies and unseasonably cool temps which are always welcome this time of year. The CRUSADER STAFF put the IRONDUKES through the rigors, concentrating a lot of form and function the first day of camp. Opening season kickoff at Clearwater is slated for September 1st, just over 60 days from now...let the season begin!
