Female High School Students Earn Awards for Aspirations in Computing

Kansas City, Mo.— Feb. 9, 2018 As part of an effort to encourage more young women to choose careers in technology, the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) and Commerce Bank of Kansas City will recognize 18 high-school women for their accomplishments and aspirations in computing and technology at an award ceremony and reception at Kansas City Power & Light. on February 9. 2018.

KNIGHT Wrestlers SPLIT @ Home Opener Thursday

The 2017-2018 WMS Knight Wrestling Squad had their first HOME action Thursday evening in the main gym at WMS. Visiting Prairie Hills, Haysville and Winfield would complete the double-dual and Wellington would emerge in the end with a split, defeating Haysville 66-42 and falling to Prairie Hills 42-54.

(Prairie Hills defeated Winfield 48-48 <tie-breaker H / first points scored>, Winfield defeated Haysville 52-44)
So on the night, it was Prairie Hills 2-0, Wellington 1-1, Winfield 1-1, and Haysville 0-2

Aaron Schoemann is Ottawa University Bound!

Aaron Schoemann put pen to paper Wednesday out at WHS signing to play football next season for the BRAVES at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS! Congratulations Aaron - that's an awesome opportunity!

With Aaron at the signing were his parents Jason and Jennifer Schoemann and also past coaches, clear back to little league! Those present included Zane Aguilar, Jeff Frazee, Mitch McComb and Joe Buresh. Additional friends and family were present, including teammates and classmates.

"CRUSADER" Basketball Results From Tuesday

The CRUSADERS hosted the Crusaders (Buhler) Tuesday afternoon and evening out at WHS. The northern Crusaders with quickness, hot shooting and precision passing, not to mention a Paul Bunyan sized center on their Varsity Squad, proved to be too much, the local red team dropped all "3" boys games to the visitors - here are the outcomes and individual scoring:

The WHS boys let the game get away from them after battling hard early on. Final score was Buhler C-Team Boys 51, WHS 32.

30-0 / Says it all...!

The WMS 8th grade Lady Knights Monday evening in the PIONEER LEAGUE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP game vs El Dorado at Mulvane MS, dotted every "i", crossed every "t", and iced every "cake" - this, their 30th game as Lady Knights, would also be their 30th VICTORY - these young ladies NEVER LOST the past two seasons! AWESOME!

WMS Pep Assembly - GO BIG RED!

Wellington Middle School held a Pep Assembly Monday afternoon - to give their two Lady Knight basketball teams a big sendoff as both the 7th and 8th grade girls play for the PIONEER LEAGUE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP later this afternoon and evening at Mulvane MS. Both have already secured the regular season PIONEER LEAGUE TITLE - it's time to complete the package!!

WHS Forensic Students Are STATE-BOUND!

Forensics Coach Caitlin Hendrix and the WHS Forensics Team competed at Newton Saturday...two Crusaders qualified for State!

Austin Harriger placed 5th in Informative Speaking!

Gabe Hyer placed 3rd and qualified for State in Prose!

Austin Harriger and Gabe Hyer placed 2nd and qualified for State in Improvised Duet Acting!
