Wellington hosts JV, Varsity volleyball

Varsity and JV Volleyball finally had home matches this past week.  I was out sick for the week, but thanks (VERY BIG THANKS) to former Yearbook member Maddie Nance, a senior at WHS, we have plenty of photos from the night!  Maddie, Pep Club member extraordinaire, not only made sure to attend as a leader in the student section, but she also picked up a yearbook camera to take pics from the stands.  Maddie, Shelby Popplewell, and others took MANY photographs for us!  As for outcomes, the varsity squad unfortunately lost to both Collegiate and Winfield, but JV was able to win against both!  <

JV Tennis sees first home action

JV Tennis saw its first home action on Monday at the 9th Street Tennis Courts.  Wellington hosted Circle and Goddard Eisenhower in a quad round robin tournament (WHS had two teams).  The wellington.cc camera was holstered due to illness, but two plucky WHS Yearbook photographers--Michaela Stufflebeam and Tatum Rountree--saved us and took some photographs of the event!  Results and pics below!

Wellington struggles on homecoming, loses 14-48 to Collegiate

by Tanner Ford, wellington.cc

There was a big crowd on hand for Wellington’s homecoming game vs Wichita Collegiate, but there was not much to cheer about for the Crusaders as they struggled to get anything going against the Wichita Collegiate Spartans. The Crusader defense played tough in the first quarter and only allowed one touchdown to end the quarter 7-0. The second quarter was a touchdown party for the Spartans as they scored six touchdowns to go up 48-0 going into halftime.

While many WHS students were walking the parade route Thursday evening, the cross country athletes were at the Chaparral Invitational running their new course at Chaparral High School, and they sure have something to show for it!  The boys varsity team placed first among a field of six and a plethora of those members and JV runners earned individual medals!!  Below are the full results and link to some meet photos courtesy of WHS Cross Country athletes Cabel Bogguss and Conner Walker--they took some great ones!!
