WHS junior Jensen Lynnes swam in Crusader crimson Saturday morning at the AVCTL League Swim Meet held at Andover High School! It was the first time since State last season that Lynnes has swum as an official Wellington swimmer, and it was also the Crusader Yearbook’s first opportunity ever to make it to a meet since she has been involved in high school swim starting in 2020. Jensen sported a red and white Wellington cap she designed herself, and in a show of support and solidarity, her longtime coach and Winfield Vikings Assistant Coach Jay Buffum wore a red “Wellington Swim” shirt, as well!

Lynnes had a pretty great day with her individual events! (Since she is participating in league representing Wellington instead of Winfield, she is unable to compete in the relay events.) In her 100-Yd Freestyle, she placed 4th with a time of :58.11, and in the 100-Yd Backstroke, she placed 10th overall at 1:07.09–both times a SEASON BEST! Jensen was also surrounded in the water today by many of her Winfield teammates, and they had a pretty fantastic day, as well, placing 2nd as a team behind host Andover. Way to go, Jensen, Wellington Crusader! Way to go, Winfield Vikings!

Jensen will be back in the water in competition on Friday, May 20, for preliminary races for the 100-Free and 100-Back at the STATE SWIM MEET in Lenexa starting at 9am. If she places in the top 16 on Friday, she’ll be back for Day 2 of State the following morning.

Good Luck, Jensen!!
