Lady lifters collect another ring!
Prior to the start of the school year, the 2025 Lady Crusader Powerlifters convened in the weight room for a special occasion: collecting a championship ring for 4A State Powerlifting. The team took 1st in the Wellington-hosted state meet this past March. For many Lady Crusaders, this makes their second in a set of powerlifting state rings, as the team also took 1st the previous year.
Powerlifting, a winter activity, is coached by Matthew Mason and Ashley Cashier, who have seen the program grow since Mason himself was a participant a few years ago, with nearly 100 members of the boys and girls team. The program was first established in Wellington in 2012 by then-WHS teacher Katie Hollas, a former Goddard state lifting champion.
