This Fall at WMS, something occurred that really doesn't occur very often so it is worthy of mention! It's a very notable year when anyone makes the All-Time Top 10 List at anything. Between early September and early October this Fall, three young Knights, (a 6th grader and "2" 7th graders), all made the WMS 7th Gr Boys Cross Country All-Time TOP 10 List..."3" boys in "ONE" season, on a list that has existed since 1991! That's pretty spectacular!
Kudos to the Community Connections class at WHS, instructed by Mrs. Karla Lawless. Her students held a fundraiser recently and with the proceeds purchased PUMPKINS to share with students at Kennedy Elementary just down ole Crusader Road.
Students from Mrs. Lawless' class as well as WHS LEADERSHIP students took part in the pumpkin cleaning and carving activities Monday and Tuesday this week with the 3rd graders at Kennedy. I think all the "kids" younger and older, were having some fun!
WHS's pioneering Girls Golf team headed to Hays on Monday for Regional 4A action. The weather wasn't very golf-like for sure, cloudy, winds gusting to 35mph and cool temps in the low 50's - not good golfing weather at all. Wellington Freshman Payton Ginter buckled down though and shot a 109, a score that would place her in 12th out of about 50 participants and would advance her on to the State 4A Girls Golf Tournament in Topeka coming up on Monday, Oct. 16th.
