High Intensity Training - Official Fall Practice SOON!

Student-athletes at WHS have been training all summer through PSQ, through camps, through special training - all to be as physically and mentally prepared as possible when Fall Sports Practices (Football, Volleyball, Girls Tennis, Cross Country, Girls Golf) begin. These pics were taken during HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING one morning last week, the training had moved inside for the day due to wet conditions outside...they train hard and they have fun.

WHS Clay Target Team Attends "NATIONALS" in MICHIGAN!

Members of the WHS 2018 Clay Target Team recently returned from the USA High School Clay Target League National Championships held in Mason, Michigan which is located just 20 mins. outside of Lansing. 

The 2018 USA High School Clay Target League National Championship was presented by NRA Sports and sponsored by the Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, SCHEELS, and Mark Zauhar.

The DORE ENCHIES reclaim the GREAT RACE Crown!

The 28th GREAT RACE RELAY took place Saturday afternoon at South Woods Park and points beyond. "8" teams participated in the "13" event relay which includes motocross, horseback, bicycles, canoes, long and short distance running. Each team carries a colored railroad spike from start to finish - if you don't cross the finish line with it, you don't win! Jack Potucek has been the Racemaster for all 28 races, dating back to 1977.

Semi Loss @ STATE Ends Season for Wellington 18U

Play resumed Monday morning after rain delay Sunday. Score didn't change and outcome was Liberal 9 DUKES 1. No matter, Wellington would be the #2 seed in Bracket Play after going 3-1 in Pool Play. Liberal, 4-0 in pool play, would be the #1 seed. In the first semi-final, it was DUKES vs Parsons, a team Wellington defeated in the State Tournament opener, 8-6. A repeat of that outcome wasn't to be.

The Wellington Dukes 18U lost to Parsons 3-6 in semi-final bracket play action this afternoon at Liberal's Sr. Babe Ruth State Tournament.

Game #4 (in pool play) with Wellington 18U vs host Liberal (both squads (3-0) are in a rain delay in the 5th inning with the Dukes down 1-9. No more baseball tonight, no update available at this time for game times on Monday. Win or lose, the DUKES will make bracket play. Stay tuned! GO DUKES!!

No Hitter For Higgie - 18U Dukes Advance to 2-0 in Pool Play!

If you went to the concession stand in Liberal Saturday afternoon and had to wait very long, you probably missed the WELLINGTON vs HAVEN game at the Sr. Babe Ruth State Tourney, which ended after just 3 innings. Final Score: THE DUKES 20 HAVEN 00. With 17 hits and the 20 runs, this outcome was never in doubt. Brayden Higginbotham was on the mound for WELLINGTON and threw a 3 inning run-rule no hitter, gave up 2BB and struck out 1.

Congratulations to the WELLINGTON DUKES 18U Senior Babe Ruth Team (the guys on the top row in the pic!)...the 18U DUKES came out on top Friday evening in Game #1 vs Parsons at the STATE SR. BABE RUTH TOURNAMENT being held in Liberal this weekend. (8 team pool play format)

WHS/WMS Volleyball Camps 2018!

WHS / WMS Volleyball Camp is underway this week through Thursday @ Wellington High School. About 30 or so young ladies are taking part in the 4 day summer tune-up with official FALL practice only about a month away! Coach Blake Brewster and his assistants put the girls through the fundamental rigors of the game. The Lady Crusader camp runs from 8AM to 10AM each day, then they assist with the WMS Lady Knights for an hour until 11AM. GO LADIES GO!!
