Homecoming Week (i.e. SPIRIT WEEK) usually culminates with the traditional HOMECOMING DANCE - this year, no exception! Dozens of Crusaders on hand after the football game to celebrate and pay honor to our new reigning Duchess Juliette Hyer!
These pics are courtesy pics from Dominique Callaway, Abby Mohr, and Mackenzie Henry, all WHS Yearbook folks! They did an awesome job - enjoy! Below that link, all the links since last Sunday evening when the craziness began! GO BIG RED!!
For the 2nd time this season, the IRONDUKES were at HOME and the eventual outcome was good, but it took a while before Wellington could pull away from the visiting Orioles.
At halftime, WHS was up only 14-7. A strong 14 point 3rd qtr for the HOME team secured the cause, as its now 28-7. Augusta would score one more time in the 4th, so would Wellington. As the whistles blew, the game ended 35-14, the team in red could ring the bell!
Juliette Hyer was crowned the 2018 WHS Duchess Friday evening during halftime of the Augusta vs Wellington game. That game ended in victory for Wellington, downing Augusta 35-14.
This Fall's Duchess Candidates in addition to Hyer, were Jacelyn Buck, Taylor Meyer, Arielle Pottier, and Skylar Troutman.

The annual WHS DUCHESS PEP ASSEMBLY took place Friday afternoon at WHS, just a few hours before tip off at the home Augusta vs Wellington football game and the coronation of the new duchess herself. The band, the cheerleaders, the crimson dancers all performed. The Duchess Candidates and their escorts made their "unique" entrances. A tug of war between the students and some coaches/teachers ended in shame for the latter. But, the fact they were outnumbered a bit, should soften that blow a little. :)
SPIRIT WEEK is drawing to a close but what a big day FRIDAY will be! Everyone is dressed in RED, there's the DUCHESS PEP ASSEMBLY @ 2:30PM today, the public is invited. (Public should arrive by 2:15pm for best seating.
Tonight's the big night - it's AUGUSTA vs WELLINGTON at Sellers Park and at halftime, a new WHS DUCHESS will be crowned. Congratulations to this year's DUCHESS CANDIDATES, Jacelyn Buck, Juliette Hyer, Taylor Meyer, Arielle Pottier and Skylar Troutman!!
The annual HOMECOMING PARADE and downtown PEP RALLY at Heritage Park, took place Thursday evening. Threats of rain for Thursday, earlier in the week, were moved back to Friday and the parade and rally was warm and windy but it stayed dry. Following the downtown activities, much of the crowd headed to Sellers for Powder Puff Football.
It was POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL time at Sellers Park Thursday evening, following the great parade and great rally downtown! The SOPHOMORES took care of business, scoring 82 points on the evening and walked away with the big hardware!
