A Note on the Crusader Website's Future

Since fall of 1999, the Crusader website has been THE go-to place for Wellington content.  Its look and web address may have changed periodically, but it has had one sole proprietor: Steve Sturgis.  It is Steve’s creation, his vision.  Much has already been said about Steve’s inventiveness and the impact the website has had on our community, so I’ll suffice to add this: There was nothing like it when Steve first created the website; he blazed a trail for all others to follow, and the project is a wonder and a testament to his brilliance, creativity, talent, and industriousness.  I

2022 WHS.CC College Laptop (Asst Prog Info)

2022 Graduate Laptop Assistance is being fulfilled by Zach Parent and John Sturgis in partnership with the Wellington Community Foundation and WHS staff.  Through the normal yearly contributions and memorial donations, Steve's Laptop Fund has enough money in the account to accommodate every applicant who turned in their paperwork by the February 24 deadline.  Those students have been contacted via their email (email from Katie Ford) and have until September 6, 2022, to submit a Fall 2022 course schedule to fulfill the requirement to receive a laptop assistance check for $200.

WHS Girls Basketball vs Winfield

The Lady Crusaders, not only ranked 3rd overall in 4A basketball state-wide by the Kansas Basketball Coach Association, they are also undefeated 7-0! They are composed and take challenges head on, they are fun to watch. The Lady Vikings came to town 3-1, and left with an “L”, actually not surprising to the home fans, but everyone knows anything can happen, last night, it was the expected, not the surprise in the end. The Lady Vikings road back to Winfield, 3-2, but certainly a team with potential.
