CTE Showcase returns to WHS!

Wellington High School hosted the 10th "annual" Career & Technical Education (CTE) Showcase tonight after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus.  It was great to see it back in its glory, full of a plethora of displays of classwork and proud students to talk about it!  Student interns were present to speak about their experiences in the work force, gallery boards and tables were full of student artwork, the agriculture/horticulture classes had many plants for sale in the greenhouse, culinary students served canapés and other hors d'oeuvres, graphic arts and web design work were posted, and other s

Varsity Golf results from Cherry Oaks

The Varsity Boys Golf Team headed to Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney on Monday to participate in the Collegiate Invitational.  Coach Ginter reports that the team shot a season low team score of 314, which put them one stroke out of 2nd place.  

Three Crusader seniors placed in the top 20 individual scores: Deitrek Gill (3rd), Brett Wyckoff (10th), and Caden Lawrence (20th).  Gill shot two under par for a 70, Wyckoff finished with a season low of 78, and Lawrence tied for 20th with an 82.  They were followed by senior Laken Smith with an 84 and freshmen Owen Farley with an 89.

Crusader Tennis - Action-packed Monday and Tuesday!

Varsity Tennis traveled back-to-back days to Circle and El Dorado for invitationals yesterday and today.  Individuals results for El Dorado are below, and more results from yesterday follow!

2022 Prom Roundup

WHS held the 2022 Junior-Senior Prom this last Saturday and the students crowned a new Lord and Lady of Prom!  Congratulations to Lord Dustyn Schettler and lady Melody Rinehart!  The evening included all the pre-Covid usual fair, and we had several WHS Yearbook staff members on-hand to capture every moment!

A Note on the Crusader Website's Future

Since fall of 1999, the Crusader website has been THE go-to place for Wellington content.  Its look and web address may have changed periodically, but it has had one sole proprietor: Steve Sturgis.  It is Steve’s creation, his vision.  Much has already been said about Steve’s inventiveness and the impact the website has had on our community, so I’ll suffice to add this: There was nothing like it when Steve first created the website; he blazed a trail for all others to follow, and the project is a wonder and a testament to his brilliance, creativity, talent, and industriousness.  I
