The Wellington High School chapter of the National Honor Society (NHS), inducted 21 new members Sunday afternoon at WHS, in a ceremony held in the auditorium. A reception followed in the Commons.
NHS has a foundation of 4 pillars, Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service. Those in attendance were greeted by WHS Principal Dr. Zack Hood, Jason Newberry and Pat Zeka, both school board members, and by the NHS advisor, Linda Chase.
It was a big day at WAMEGO COUNTRY CLUB in Wamego Saturday - for the first time since 1989, the Crusader Boys Cross Country Team competed, as a TEAM! (Camden Parkey, Braeden Ybarra, Hunter Lough, Ryan Bacon, Conner Walker, Caleb Sanders, and Jaxson Irey-Hurt.).
WHS gave the State 4A Cross Country Boys Team a big sendoff on Friday at WHS. The team and the Crusader Band, marched around the school as students and staff, and visiting friends and family, cheered the group on. Congratulations to Ryan Bacon, Conner Walker, Jaxson Irey-Hurt, Braeden Ybarra, Camden Parkey, Hunter Lough, and Caleb Sanders! (SEE PIC ABOVE)
The Varsity Crusaders 2021 season ends but with some positive moments, this week and last for sure. In the first half at Andover Central, the defense was solid and surprised the Jaguars with numerous stops, forcing punts and turnovers. Some miscues on offense took away opportunities to score and by halftime, the home team Jaguars began to pull away. One highlight for me at the game, as departing, I heard what appeared to be two Jaguar dads talking about Wellington as I made my way through a small crowd of folks. "Wellington has a lot of tradition, and I admire that".
The WMS and WHS Vocal Music Choirs, performed Thursday evening at WHS, under the Direction of Jennifer Ault and Accompanist Sherry Galloway-Willis. It was superb program and the pictures provided by the WHS Yearbook group, superb as well!! Enjoy!
