Advancing on to the State 4A Boys Tournament, this weekend at the 4A Regional held here at Wellington High School are Seniors Kanden Young, 195 lb REGIONAL CHAMPION and Brennan Cantrell, 113 lb top 4 finisher. Junior Kenny Fehrman 220 lbs, finished 2nd and Sophomore Hagen Wright, 3rd at 285 lbs.

Brennan Cantrell (13-8) place is unknown and scored 4.0 team points.
The WHS Varsity/JV Wrestlers road-tripped to Mulvane Thursday evening (with many open weights) and in the end, it was Brennan Cantrell (13-8) @ 113 lbs., Kanden Young (33-1) @ 195 lbs., and Kenny Fehrman (32-2) @ 220 lbs. that pulled out "W's" for the boys in red. Cantrell and Fehrman pinned their opponents, Young nearly did but won by decision in the end. Final Team Score WHS 15 MHS 58. In JV action preceding, Kaitlyn Hain, now 22-2 on the season, pinned her opponent.

AT ROSE HILL:
113 lb Brennan Cantrell (SR), went 2-2 during the 2 day event, pinning Flower of Winfield (4:32 mark), lost by pin to Pavlacka of Andale. On Saturday, and on the backside, Cantrell came out on fire, pinned Fernandez of Hutchinson (2;19 mark), but lost to Egan of Derby by pin.
Here are the updates, the most recent on top, of the wrestling action at Rose Hill Friday. Action continues today for Brennan, Kanden and Kenny. The latter two will be in their respective championship matches (195 lbs and 220 lbs). The former is on the backside of the bracket at 1-1 will need to fight his way back towards medal contention!

ASCENDING ORDER of results from Rose Hill on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020
After the Friday portion of the Halstead Wrestling Invitational was cancelled due to road conditions, it was combined with Saturday's schedule and the 17 team Halstead meet is now in the can. Our Crusaders fared quite well, finishing 3rd in the 17 team field. Senior Brennan Cantrell went 4-0, all PINS over his opponents from Lyons (2), Marion and Cheney.
109 lb GIRLS
Lady Crusader ANNA CULLENS went 5-0 today @ Wichita North to place 1st! Anna downed Garcia of Wichita North, Torres of Newton, Nichols of Wichita Heights, Wald of Hesston and French of Wichita North! Anna is now 9-0 on the season!
Results are in from Friday's action at Marion - the Crusaders fared well! Out of 43 matches wrestled, the Crusaders won 31 of them! Michael Cullens (138) and Luke McComb (285) went 5-0 and 3-0 respectively. Senior Kanden Young (195) and Junior Kenny Fehrman (220) move to 29-0 combined on the season!

Senior Kanden Young (195) and Junior Kenny Fehrman (220), continued their "undefeated" status Thursday evening vs Clearwater. 9-0 and 8-0 going in respectively, it only took Young 26 seconds to move to 10-0, took Fehrman only 18 seconds to move to 9-0.

WHS Junior Kanden Young lost to Stribling of Paola (Fall 3:21) and is out. Kanden went 1-2 @ State, his 2nd State Tournament is past 3 years. Congrats on a great season Kanden. (Next year - the BIG YEAR - it's goin' to happen!)
Congratulations to our WHS Varsity Wrestlers - they shined at this weekend's 4A Regional Tournament held at Pratt HS!
Junior Quinton Redford (126 lbs), Junior Kanden Young (182 lbs), & Sophomore Kenny Fehrman (220 lbs) all "3" qualified for STATE 4A Tournament!
Fehrman didn't just qualify, he is now the 2019 "220 lb." REGIONAL 4A CHAMPION!! Redford came in 4th in his wt class, Young, Regional 4A Champion Runner-Up!
Day 1 of 2 is in the books at the 2019 4A REGIONAL WRESTLING TOURNAMENT at Pratt HS! The Crusaders had an excellent first day - 2 of our 6 participants have qualified for the STATE 4A TOURNAMENT next weekend in Salina and both will wrestle for the 4A REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Saturday in Pratt! Congrats to Kanden Young and Kenny Fehrman! Cantrell, Redford, Heacock, and Johnston are still in the hunt - GO CRUSADERS - GOOD LUCK!!!
The WHS Wrestlers were in action Saturday at 2 different venues. We had "2" Lady Crusaders at the State Girls Wrestling Tournament in McPherson, Mackenzie Heacock and Alexis Patee. Heacock finished at 2-2 on the day, finishing 4th and Patee went 1-4, finishing 5th. There were 79 teams and 220 girls this year at the State Tournament. Up 107 girls from last year. KSHSAA will vote sometime in April, as to whether the Girls State Tournament should be "sanctioned".
The Varsity Crusaders were in action this weekend at the Rose Hill Wrestling Invitational. 24 teams represented, Wellington's Kenny Fehrman (220 lbs) finished 3rd and Kanden Young (182 lbs) finished 6th. Congrats to both on their medal finishes!!
Brennan Cantrell and Quinton Redford also saw mat action. Individual and team results follow.
