It was Crusaders vs Crusaders and it went down to the wire...the Wellington Crusaders emerged as Regional 4A Champions Friday evening at Sellers Park, playing host to the Buhler Crusaders, final score Buhler 7 Wellington 14. Our Irondukes move on, Buhler is done for the season.
On Thursday, November 1, the National Honor Society Crusader Chapter at Wellington High School hosted a blood drive through American Red Cross. This event took place from 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. in the auxiliary gym. The blood collected will go towards those in need in the Sumner County area.
Chase Pfalzgraf and Mackenzie Heacock, qualified last weekend in Chanute for today's (Saturday) State 4A Cross Country Meet in Wamego! A big sendoff took place on Wednesday for Chase and Mackenzie (2 days early due to PT Conferences/No School) out at WHS. Unfortunate news was received today prior to the conclusion of the State Meet that Jr. Mackenzie Heacock had rolled her ankle Friday evening and would not be able to compete on Saturday. Not the outcome you want at a State event for sure.
The Crusaders downed Rose Hill Friday evening at Sellers Park, 38-13 in week #9 bracketed action. The boys in "Crusader Red" will advance and HOST Buhler Friday @ 7PM, who downed Winfield 25-0, ending the season for the Vikings at 3-6.
For the 2nd time in about as many weeks, a STATE 4A sendoff took place at WHS, this time for Cross Country runners Senior Chase Pfalzgraf and Junior Mackenzie Heacock. Chase and Mackenzie both qualified for the State 4A Meet at Wamego this Saturday. Action gets underway at 11AM at the Wamego Country Club. Many students, staff, the awesome Crusader Band, and others were on hand in support!

The 2018 WHS Volleyball Season came to a close on Saturday @ Rose Hill HS. 4A Sub-State action vs Nickerson didn't produce the "W" needed to advance - the Lady Crusader underclassmen will say good-bye to the courts until the 2019 season rolls around - 7 Seniors will say good-bye forever. It's always difficult when season's end, especially for the graduating Seniors. Saw several recent graduates at Sub-State 4A action in Rose Hill - the ladies have a love for the game and as their predecessors, they will be missed.
