Winter Activity Recommendations Moved On to Board of Directors
Winter Sports practices are underway this week at WHS! Boys & Girls Basketball, Boys & Girls Wrestling, and Boys & Girls Powerlifting. Visited all those venues on Wednesday - here are your Wellington Crusaders and Lady Crusaders, hard at it after school!
The 2020 WHS Varsity Football season came to an end Friday evening here at HOME vs historical rival Ark City, final score 27-6. Of course, due to Covid and Health Dept. restrictions, the 25% capacity crowd would have been much larger, but not for, those aforementioned conditions. Even with the fans absence, there's still a lot of "awesomeness" to be in the stadium or along the sideline. Just soaking in the atmosphere, and enjoying a challenging sport, played out by the hearts and souls of our community, our kids.
An exciting run by the Lady Crusaders, at Saturday's 4A Sub-State tournament held here at WHS. In the semi-final rounds, it was Clearwater over Winfield and Wellington over Mulvane, both matches, 2 set matches. The "2" advanced to the Championship Final and what a first set in the final, it was. Back and forth, and unfortunately a 26-28 victory for the visiting Lady Indians. The "mo" slipped a bit and Clearwater wrapped it all up in 2 sets, with a 25-12 victory in the latter.
